Sunrise Recreation and Park District

Founded in 1950, The Sunrise Recreation and Park District serves communities in Northeast Sacramento County by providing and maintaining 42 parks and over 500 annual recreation programs. Its three community centers and two pool facilities are located within the 27 square miles in Citrus Heights, Foothill Farms and Antelope, California.

Sunrise Golf Course

A 9-hole private course built in 1970, the Sunrise Golf Course boasts narrow fairways and fast greens with water hazards throughout. The course has one par 5, three par 4’s and five par 3’s ending with hole #9 lined by oak trees for the entire length of the hole and an oak tree in the middle of the fairway 250 yards from the back tee.

Auburn State Recreation Area

The Auburn State Recreation Area sits amid 35,000 acres along 40 miles of the North and Middle Forks of the American River. With a history rich in gold mining, the area now hosts over 500,000 visitors each year who partake in hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, camping, gold panning, horseback riding, off-highway motorcycling and whitewater rafting.

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

At the foot of the Sierra Mountains lies this beautiful 18,000-acre lake and recreation area offering amenities for biking, camping, horseback riding, hiking, picnicking, boating and water skiing. Visitors can also view the Folsom Powerhouse which had provided power for Sacramento residents from 1885 to 1952. Also included within the Folsom park area is Lake Natoma popular for sailing, kayaking and other water sports.
